Just for fun, I am taking part in children's author, Vivian Kirkfield's #50PreciousWords writing contest. The goal is to write a story with a beginning, middle and end in 50 words or less.

KING OF THE CASTLE

One eye opens, then the other.
I bolt upright.
PLAYTIME!
I race downstairs,
a plan in my head.
Cushions, blankets and the couch will do.
I lift and squeeze and shove.
CRASH!
I start again.
Lift. Squeeze. Nudge.
Finally! I’m king of the castle.
Now where’s my breakfast banquet?
